Blake High School
Our school is excited to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's High School Challenge. Last year, high school students in the National Capital Area Chapter raised over $43,000 to fight blood cancer and provide services for patients and their families. This year, our school is committed to help raise even more!
Why Every Penny Counts
This year we are raising funds and awareness in honor of local blood cancer patient, Tim King. Tim began his battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) when he was 8 years old. At age 13 he relapsed. Tim received a bone marrow transplant thanks to his brother, JT's, perfectly matched cells. After spending a year in remission, Tim's family received the tough news that yet again he had relapsed this past September. While balancing his freshman year, Tim is also juggling trips to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD to participate in a clinical trial aimed at finding a "vaccine" for his particular cancer. He is doing well and staying actively involved. To track Tim's journey, join Tim's Facebook page at Tim King for Pennies for Patients. We hope you will join us in supporting Tim, and other patients in the DC metro area.
How You Can Rise to the Challenge. Donate.
We ask you, our friends and family, to please assist our cause by making an online donation to help reach our school’s fundraising goal. When you donate, you will automatically receive a tax-deductible receipt. You can also submit your receipt to your company's matching gifts program for an additional gift.
